Challenge

Redeveloping the DT+ platform for the future success of the business

Founded in 2009, Digital Theatre+ provide three million students in over 2,900 schools, colleges and universities across almost 100 countries with unlimited access to thousands of full-length productions and educational resources.

As the world’s leading educational platform for the study of performing arts and dramatic texts, Digital Theatre+ have an ambition to bring more content to more educational institutions and students. Providing a richer, more intuitive and accessible experience.

Digital Theatre is committed to the future success of the business, taking advantage of future-proofed solutions, and increasing customer responsiveness and operational efficiency.

Codurance has given us the opportunity to work with staff and experts who understand and have hands-on experience in implementing solutions with AWS. From the initial and ongoing design of the architecture, through the implementation and validation process, Codurance has been able to deliver consistent working solutions using new and well-established AWS services and products. Digital Theatre is undertaking an ambitious project to replace its entire customer-facing technology stack... and Codurance has been instrumental in delivering this project.

Project

Future success in migration

Codurance was initially brought in by Digital Theatre to work alongside the internal team to define the technology stack for the new cloud platform, provide technical advice and validate the architecture and infrastructure decisions. We led a complex content migration project, which required content to be migrated, transformed and classified in order to deliver the features and capabilities required.

The DT+ platform is now a modern, fast, secure and accessible set of web applications built using the latest Serverless architecture, achieving not only feature parity with the existing solution but also creating a huge positive impact to the publishing team that can easily edit and maintain Content. The platform now meets the required accessibility standards and search is greatly improved so that all content can be searched for and easily discovered, creating an enriched user experience for DT+ subscribers.

The platform built by Codurance in partnership with Digital Theatre will allow Digital Theatre’s technology team to easily make improvements in future, develop new features and support the business’s vision around personalisation, content recommendation and making content available on other platforms.
